As city leaders and staff seek ways to communicate with and engage consumers, social networking cannot be overlooked. This article highlights some of the history of text messaging in Philippine politics but focuses on a sample group of politically active young people, exploring how they use social networking sites (SNS) "to understand some of the ways SNS—in departing from and yet rehearsing older media practices like SMS—function in the everyday performance of sociality and politics."
