Mutual Aid for Cities to Effectively Share Resources During Emergencies

Sun, 2015-09-13 16:00 -- SCC Staff

There are several risks associated with mutual aid programs in which a city experiencing a major emergency such as a large power outage calls upon other cities and contractors for help. The vehicle operators and contractors are often unfamiliar with the territory and the policies of the city they are assisting, and that can affect costs and create safety risks, delays and other problems. Working with its customers, Clevest has designed an Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) solution that includes Mutual Aid. With AVL and Mutual Aid, dispatchers and supervisors can track their own and loaned vehicles, equipment and crews, and can reconcile and record how and where they are being used to avoid exposure to high-risk situations.
