Alstom pact targets smart, energy efficient homes
Council Lead Partner Alstom Grid will work with IJENKO, a European company that provides a cloud platform for Internet of Energy and Internet of Everything services in the home, to commercialize integrated solutions for smart homes. The idea is to combine home-based smart energy gateways and cloud based energy services, such as energy saving monitoring, remote energy home control and demand response. The solutions will enable utilities and municipalities to engage customers and residents to improve their energy efficiency.
Itron wins contract with Romania's largest water utility
The Apa Nova Bucureşti water utility, which serves 2 million customers in Bucharest, chose Council Lead Partner Itron to help modernize its water metering system. Over the next four years, Apa Nova Bucureşti will install Itron’s water meters for high-use customers and multi-family buildings, which will allow the utility to better manage and conserve water resources and improve billing accuracy. Itron’s high-quality water meters allow us to meet our goals for accurate billing to improve customer service and recover revenues," said Mihai Savin, the utility's executive director.

The Silver Spring Smart City Solution was honored with the 2014 M2M Evolution IoT Excellence Award for its progress in helping cities speed the adoption of smart technologies. The award, from TMC, acknowledges that Silver Spring Networks has already connected more than 20 million devices on five continents, helping cities reduce energy costs, operate more efficiently, and improve public safety, among other benefits. Cities using its technology include Chicago, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Melbourne, Miami, Paris, Sao Paulo, San Francisco, and Singapore. Silver Spring Networks is a Council Associate Partner.
