Huawei's support for Dubai South's smart city transformation will include a number of approaches, from strategic counseling to technology.

"Huawei will provide strategic counsel to support development of a blueprint for Dubai South's smart initiatives. Huawei will also share its global expertise through training sessions, expert workshops and guided visits to other key customer sites where Huawei Smart City Solutions have been implemented," explained Colin Hu, managing director of Huawei Enterprise, UAE.

The company's Smart City and Safe City solutions include detailed network planning and technology development and contributions from several partners, according to a Trade Arabia News Service article.

Among the services to be provided are mobile and fixed broadband infrastructure and equipment. Huawei's Internet of Things platform will provide connectivity, identification management and security for the installation of sensors and other devices.

"We value Huawei's global ICT expertise and success in building smart cities of the future, to provide advanced, smart and sustainable services to the larger community of Dubai South, making the city the preferred destination to live, work and invest," said Khalifa Al Zaffin, Dubai Aviation City Corporation executive chairman.
